Mary Beth Sprouse

Mary Beth Sprouse earned a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance from Iowa State University in 2000. She was hired as the Director of Boone Area Recreation, a collaborative effort by the City of Boone and Boone County Hospital offering activities and programs to residents of the City of Boone and surrounding areas. While working with the City of Boone she became more interested in municipal management and in 2007, Mary Beth returned to Iowa State University for a Graduate Certificate of Public Management. Mary Beth then joined the City of Slater as its City Clerk/Administrator and served the City for ten years and in 2011, she earned her designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk and Certified Municipal Finance Officer through the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association. Mary Beth served on the Iowa League of Cities Small City Finance Task Force and was involved with the first administrative sharing agreement between two cities in the State of Iowa. Mary Beth then joined Iowa State Extension and Outreach, Office of State and Local Government Programs where she continued to work with municipal governments through a joint position with the Iowa League of Cities. In the spring of 2018 Mary Beth started at the Iowa Department of Transportation where she continues to work with cities and counties as a local systems reports specialist.
